There are numerous DJs out there but not all of them are successful enough to make this Job a full time Job. They can’t be blamed because no one fully depends on an unsuccessful Job, however being successful in this popular business is not rocket science. The following steps will make you be a successful DJ:
Be Passionate: You have to be passionate about music as that is the main raw material needed. Great Disc Jockeys are not born, they are made, you must enjoy music to be a successful DJ.
Read the Crowd: You can’t just play any music, you have to read the response of the Crowd and play the most appropriate music for the flow.
Don’t repeat Songs: Repeating songs reduces excitement so a good DJ must have at least 20,000 songs in his/her music repository to enable him/her play unique music for the audience and increase the anticipation and vibes.
Play old-school hits: Nothing excites the Crowd better than playing their favorite old songs. It gives them memories of the times they repeatedly danced to these songs. These old-school songs should be mixed with new songs to further increase the excitement.
Be Unpredictable: Don’t be predictable with the way you mix your songs. As a good DJ, you will perform at several events that will be attended by some of the Attendees of your previous Event(s) so don’t let them predict how you mix your songs
Give good music Intros: A good DJ makes the crowd anticipate a particular song he/she will play next if he/she mixes the intro excellently with the song being played currently.
Be Confident: Have confidence and believe in your abilities. You might still be a work in progress but never give up till you get to the top.
Be Creative: Master the art of mixing a song with another interesting and compatible beat.
